KELLYS WORK HARD IN SANDOWN PRACTICE

Jack Daniel's Racing team-mates Todd and Rick Kelly have put in a day of solid work in practice for the Norton 360 Sandown Challenge in Melbourne today.

The brothers worked hard with their race engineers Barry Ryan and David Swenson and the entire Jack Daniel's Racing crew in preparation for this weekend's two races.

On combined times, Rick Kelly ended the day with the 13th fastest time aboard the #15 Jack Daniel's Racing Holden Commodore and Todd Kelly was 24th fastest in his #7 Jack Daniel's Racing Holden Commodore, with effort spent on race set-ups rather than fast lap times.

Earlier today, Dale Wood drove Rick Kelly's #15 Jack Daniel's Commodore in Part A of practice, allocated to drivers in the bottom 50 percent of the championship standings or 'co-drivers' who are not full-time drivers in the category.

Mark Winterbottom was fastest in practice at Sandown today ahead of Jamie Whincup and Will Davison.

JACK DANIEL'S RACING QUOTEBOARD

Rick Kelly - #15 Jack Daniel's Racing Holden Commodore:

"It was a little bit of a frustrating day there today," said Rick Kelly.

"Again, it's the same Friday story. It's frustrating with the condition of the tyres we've got. You've got to run tyres you probably wouldn't even run on a test day for practice and that's just unfortunate with the way the rules are structured and the tyre banks work out.

"We just did our best to tune the Jack Daniel's Commodore on what we had. We had a few ups and downs and tried a few different things in practice, but ended up going back on a lot of those.

"We tried a few things and at the end of the day we found quite a chunk of time, which gives us confidence for tomorrow.

"Todd and his crew did a fair bit of work on his car today so when we sit down and look at what he thought worked and what didn't work, we'll also have that to throw into the mix as well."

Todd Kelly - #7 Jack Daniel's Racing Holden Commodore:

"We got a lot of stuff done today," said Todd Kelly.

"We got to the point where we've used most of our good practice tyres as well, and tyres mean a lot in terms of time around here.

"With any of the set-ups we used in our Jack Daniel's Commodore today, a better quality set of tyres would have meant a big chunk of time.

"So it's good for tomorrow to know where we are at for race-car type grip levels and we tuned the car with the races in mind, so we'll see how it goes when we throw new tyres at it and have better grip out there."
