Team BOC Saturday At Winton Report

BRIGHTY ON A MISSION

Unlocking Winton's engineering puzzle came too late for qualifying today but Jason Bright made good use of his transformed Team BOC rocket in this afternoon's race.

Sitting P15 after the pit stops Brighty lost no time in passing Steve Owen, Russel Ingall, Greg Murphy, Will Davison, Fabian Coulthard, Craig Lowndes, Mark Winterbottom and Garth Tander to finish P7 after 40 laps.

Brighty says the tweaks made between qualifying and the race gave his car the same feel as at Barbagallo Raceway, when he won Team BOC's first race three weeks ago. Qualifying for tomorrow's race starts at 10.05am.

"We should have got a lot further up but I had a couple of offs and lost time having a tangle with some people.

"Even so we proved, when we had clear air, that the car had great pace even against the guys who had pitted and were on new rubber. The car was extremely good.

"We had a good car in Perth and I was convinced we could convert that into a car for all tracks. It takes a while to unlock what it needs at each circuit, and most of this weekend we've really struggled with under-steer.

"You have to find your way by trial and error but what we tried for the race made the car turn so much better. It was quick and looked after its tyres all race, just like in Perth. I'm looking forward to qualifying tomorrow because I think we should move up quite a bit."

"When everyone started pulling into the pits that gave us some clear air. We had to wait and we knew our cars were going to be quick at the end.

"To climb from where we started to P7 is really good. Great for the championship and good for the team."

EASY DOES IT FOR REINDLER

Just three weeks after his horrifying start-line accident in Perth Karl Reindler has today made his competitive comeback to V8 Supercars at Winton Motor Raceway.

Defying medical expectations the Fair Dinkum Sheds Racing driver recovered from third degree burns on his hands and drove a revived 2010 chassis at the north Victorian circuit today.

The 26-year-old says he is treating this weekend as part of his recuperation before getting a new chassis for Darwin next month. Despite the more relaxed approach Reindler still put in a solid performance to finish 20th.

Qualifying for tomorrow's race starts at 10.05am.

"We're happy just to be on the grid at this round. It's an old car and we're going to get a new chassis at the next round so we're experimenting like you would at a none-championship round. "" "Our car was strong but not in the places I needed to get past Fiore unfortunately. It made it very difficult but I got past him at the end and we had very good pace.

"When you're racing people like that, attacking and trying to pull off deep braking manoeuvres, you chew the tyres up a lot. That cost us a little bit."

"Frustrating race for Karl. He got stuck behind Dean Fiore twice. He had good pace but struggled to get past him. When he did, he was off and running the guys down ahead of him a second-a-lap."
