BARGWANNA JOINS ROD NASH RACING FOR ENDUROS IN '08

Rod Nash Racing has announced that Bathurst-winner Jason Bargwanna will partner Tony D'Alberto in the V8 Supercars at the Phillip Island 500 and Bathurst 1000 endurance races this year.

Bargwanna, became available after his previous team, WPS Racing, closed down just prior to the first round of the 2008 V8 Supercar Championship Series in Adelaide, leaving the accomplished driver without a full-time drive.

Finding an experienced driver to partner Rookie D'Alberto was high on Rod Nash Racing's priority list, and when Bargwanna became available the team jumped at the opportunity to employ the services of the 2000 Bathurst champion.

"Jason is the perfect fit for our team," Rod Nash said.

"We have a strong team this year with Tony (D'Alberto) and securing a co-driver like Jason will enhance our chances of success in the biggest races of the year."

"Jason is not only the same height as Tony but he will bring a wealth of experience to the team.

"Competing in his 14th Bathurst 1000 this year the team could not have asked for a more experienced and conditioned campaigner.

"We are really looking forward to working with him this year," he said.

For Bargwanna it presents a great opportunity to get behind the wheel of a competitive car in a team that is on the move.

"It is a sharp operation, great team of people, and excellent equipment," Jason said.

"Top 6 at Bathurst last year and the right attitude to go even better in 2008.

"It was a very clear and easy choice for me. I am highly motivated to get back to being a front runner and this could just be the right combination required," he said.

This will be the first time Bargwanna races a Holden Commodore since his departure from Garry Rogers Motorsport at the end of 2002.

Since then he had raced only Ford Falcons for Larkham Motorsport from 2003-2005 and WPS Racing until 2007.

D'Alberto is equally excited by the pairing with Bargwanna.

"I can't wait to work with Jason," Tony said.

"His experience, especially at Bathurst, will flow through the whole team and gives us a much better opportunity to succeed, as well as boosting my confidence in competing in the big race."
