Shane van Gisbergen says his impending move to Triple Eight won’t distract him from fighting for this year’s V8 Supercar title.

The talented Kiwi currently drivers for single-car team Tekno Autosports, in a Triple Eight-built Holden Commodore. But it has already been announced that he will become a full-blown Triple Eight driver for 2016, joining Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup to form a three-car team.
What isn’t yet known is whether Triple Eight will buy a new Racing Entitlements Contract for van Gisbergen’s entry – with a new REC currently up for tender – or take over the Tekno entry and simply run it in-house.
Regardless of how the deal will be set-up, van Gisbergen insists that the news isn’t a distraction, and that his highest priority remains beating his soon-to-be-teammates to the 2015 title.
"I'm definitely excited about it," he told Motorsport.com.
I know we can maybe have that number one at the end of the year.

"We work closely [with Triple Eight] now, but not as closely as people tend to think. The car we have is completely different.
"It should be cool next year, but this year we have a pretty realistic chance of taking it to them, so… I'm excited about next year, but this year I'm still pushing hard for Tekno because I know we can maybe have that number one at the end of the year. It could all come together.
"But next year will be a pretty cool step as well."
