Will Power to join FPR for Surfers Paradise event

WILL POWER TO SUIT UP FOR FPR

IndyCar sensation Will Power was tonight announced as FPR's 'International' driver for the 2010 Gold Coast 'Super Carnivale' later this year.

Speaking from the US, the Team Penske driver said he was looking forward to making a return to the streets of the Gold Coast.

"To say that I have unfinished business at Surfers Paradise is an understatement," said Power.

"I've had three poles there and no wins so it has left a bit of a hole in my CV so I'm looking forward to getting down there and seeing what I can do," the Toowoomba local said.

"The Gold Coast race is the favourite event that I've been to in my whole career and I'm really looking forward to racing a V8 Supercar down there and mixing it up with the V8 regulars."

FPR Team Principal Tim Edwards is also happy Power will be pulling on a blue FPR racesuit in November.

"When you look at the available international driver pool it's been a difficult task signing someone of any decent talent who doesn't already have commitments somewhere else in the world … so to be able to snag Will is a real coup for FPR," he said.

"Not many of the internationals have had the exposure to V8 Supercars that Will has, so obviously he'll have a slight advantage as well as helping us out when it comes to setting up the car for the event."

Power is on fire this year, winning the first two IndyCar races of the 2010 season, at Brazil and St. Petersburg, making him the first IndyCar driver since Sam Hornish Jr. in 2001 to win the first two events of the year.

In another coup for the Campbellfield outfit, it was also announced Jacques Villeneuve will be the 'international' enduro driver for Paul Dumbrell's FPR-prepared Bottle-O Falcon.
