WOOD SAMPLES EXTRA GRIP FROM OPTION TYRE IN WINTON PRACTICE

Hi-Tec Oils Racing driver Dale Wood has sampled the enhanced grip of the new V8 Supercar option tyre for the first time in practice for Round 3 of the V8 Supercar Championship Series at Winton Motor Raceway in Victoria today.

Wood was impressed with the added traction aboard the #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden Commodore when the new tyre was fitted.

While there are still more improvements to come from Hi-Tec Oils Racing, today's practice form was encouraging for Wood, with the V8 Supercar rookie posting the 24th fastest time in the final segment of practice.

When both segments of practice were combined, Garth Tander was left with the fastest time of the day ahead of Jamie Whincup and Lee Holdsworth.

WHAT DALE HAD TO SAY ...

Dale Wood - #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden Commodore:

"The new tyre has an unbelievable amount of grip," said Wood.

"I guess it's stating the obvious, but what you can do with the car is a lot different.

"Our Hi-Tec Oils Commodore was not 100 percent right in terms of set-up today, but the new tyre can mask problems with the set-up a little bit because of it's extra grip.

"We've still got a lot more time left in the car as we improve the set-up. The priority is to get things a little more settled with the car and have it so that we can set a decent time in qualifying tomorrow."
