Prodrive Racing Australia pair Steve Owen and Jack Le Brocq fought it out at the top of the times during the dedicated co-driver session at Winton Motor Raceway.

The quick times all came at the end of 30-minute sessions when the majority of the field switched over to soft tyres.

That gave Owen (#55) and Le Brocq (#6) the chance to squabble over P1, Owen going top with a 1m20.4s late in the session before being bumped back to P2 by Le Brocq’s 1m20.379s.

Owen then hit back on his final lap, a 1m20.309s putting him back on top.

“It’s good way to blow the cobwebs out,” said Owen.

“The car is great. I’m really comfortable in Chaz’s seating position; it’s a good introduction to the new combination.”

Nissan Motorsport’s Dean Fiore was third fastest, having hung around the top of the times before the majority of the session, while Dean Canto made it three PRA cars in the top four with P4 in the #1 Ford.

Russell Ingall was fifth fastest in Rick Kelly’s Nissan Altima, ahead of David Wall (#33 Volvo), Macauley Jones (#21 BJR Commodore) and Luke Youlden (#12 Penske Ford).

Paul Dumbrell (#88) was the lone Triple Eight car in the Top 10 with P8, while team-mate Steve Richards in the #888 missed much of the first part of the session thanks to a water pressure issue.

The #97 Red Bull car didn’t go out on track at all, with Shane van Gisbergen’s co-driver Alex Premat not in the country.
