Sir Jackie Stewart OBE To Perform Opening Ceremony At Silverstone Historic Festival

Motor racing's recently knighted triple-Formula One World Champion, Sir Jackie Stewart OBE, will lead the circuit opening ceremony on the last day of the three-day Silverstone Historic Festival, August 25/26/27.

The programme of entertainment will commence immediately the gates open at 8:00am. Opportunities for the early birds include the chance to wander the paddocks before the racing begins and, at 10:30am, a celebrity driver autograph and chat show at the Champagne Lanson Scarf & Goggles restaurant.

The circuit opening ceremony will take place between 1:00pm and 1:15pm and include an air display and a lap of honour by David Hailwood, son of the legendary multiple-World Champion motorcyclist and Formula One McLaren and Surtees driver Mike Hailwood.

A whole host of action is anticipated for the last day of The Festival, including nostalgic races for classic motorcycles from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, Pre-1961 and Pre-1978 Grand Prix Cars, Historic Sports Cars and 1960s World Endurance Cars. The awesome Group C Sports Cars will also make their final outing of the weekend.

Said the Festival organisers, "Sir Jackie remains the most successful British racing driver to date and has made a huge contribution to the sport both as a driver and since. We are delighted he has agreed to participate, as will be his many fans."
