Highlighting the accomplishments of Goodyear engineers and Goodyear-equipped racers

May 4, 1975 -- Henri Pescarolo and Derek Bell pilot their Alfa Romeo 33TT12 to one-lap victory in the 750 kilometer World Manufacturers Championship race at Spa-Francorchamps on Goodyear tires.

May 5, 1974 -- Jacky Ickx and Jean-Pierre Jarier give Goodyear its first sports car victory at Spa-Francorchamps when the pair wins a 750 kilometer World Manufacturers Championship series race in their Matra-Simca 760C.

May 5, 1991 -- Martin Brundle and Derek Warwick win the Sportscar World Championship race at Monza in their Jaguar XJR-14.

May 6, 1979 -- Driving a Porsche 935, John Fitzpatrick, Hans Heyer and Bob Wollek win the World Manufacturer Championship race at Silverstone.

May 9, 1963 -- From a phone booth in the garage area at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, A.J. Foyt places a phone call that changes racing history. Foyt calls Goodyear's world headquarters in Akron, Ohio and urges Goodyear to bring some of the tires the company is producing for stock car racing to Indianapolis. The company is already considering returning to Indy car competition for the following season but Foyt's call brings the giant tiremaker to the track to compete within days.
