PADMORE TO RETURN TO SILVERSTONE CLASSIC
British sportscar driver Nick Padmore will make a return to one of the largest historic racing events in the world, the annual Silverstone Classic, this weekend. The Reigate resident will share a 1971 Lola T212 with owner Phil Hall in the World Sportscar Masters and will be prepared by historic Lola sportscar specialist Chris Fox.
In the very same event and race last year Padmore, along with Ian Bankhurst, claimed a fine 2nd place in a 1973 Arbarth Osella PA1 but is hoping to go one better this time around after a successful shakedown of the Lola at Silverstone on Monday.
"The Silverstone Classic is a mega event and I've really been looking forward to this weekend all season", says Padmore. "The Lola is a great car to drive and it didn't miss a beat in testing so we're all pretty confident that we have the package to put together a win on Sunday.
"It will be a manic weekend as we're qualifying on Friday afternoon, then I have to shoot off to Oulton for the 3 hour Speed Series race on Saturday, then it's back to Silverstone and back in the Lola on Sunday."
Padmore will mix up his weekend by racing the more contemporary Norma M20F at Oulton Park on Saturday with the Norma UK squad, sharing the car with regular team mate Jean-Lou Rihon in the Speed Series UK.
