Vintage Event to Feature Mark Donohue Reunion

Elkhart Lake, Wis., July 10, 2010 -- Vintage car enthusiasts will make their way to Road America to celebrate the beauty and performance of the world's greatest race cars during the Kohler International Challenge with Brian Redman, presented by Ford, July 15-18, 2010.

A mid-summer favorite, the event is one of the largest vintage racing gatherings in the United States and features over 50 classes of cars racing in 10 groups. The four-day weekend will showcase CAN-AM, a Mark Donohue Reunion and the Ford Mustang. The original Can-Am race series (1966-1974) had very few restrictions allowing the use of engines of unlimited displacement, weight and design, and tires of any kind.

Out of these open guidelines were developed some of the fastest, most sensational and innovative sports racers ever seen. The Mark Donohue Reunion will celebrate the cars and career of the late American racing legend. An extraordinary collection of his winning cars from Indy, Can-Am, Formula One, IROC and Trans-Am will be on display and special guests over the weekend will include many of Donohue's teammates from Penske Racing.

As presenting sponsor, Ford will recognize its iconic Mustang with a variety of activities including a feature race, parade laps and Mustang Alley parking. On Saturday, drivers of Mustangs will be admitted to the event free of charge.

The two-night Concours d'Elegance is sponsored by Road & Track magazine and features over 100 cars each night. At 6:00 p.m. Friday evening, race cars parade from the track to downtown Elkhart Lake for judging and spectator viewing until 8:00 p.m.

Sports cars gather on Saturday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Final judging and awards are presented on Sunday at Road America. Other fan attractions include autograph sessions, an automotive art and vendor fair, on-track touring, and public go-karting. Kids 12 and under are admitted free with an adult.

Parking, grandstand seating and paddock access are always free at Road America. Tickets and camping may be ordered by calling 800/365-7223. Gates open at 7 a.m. and races run rain or shine. Road America offers diverse racing venues, amazing viewing opportunities, fantastic concessions and high- speed excitement to thousands of spectators each year. Located midway between Milwaukee and Green Bay in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, it offers 640 grassy and wooded acres which include the 4.048 circuit, the purpose-built Briggs & Stratton Motorplex for karts and supermoto, and the Road America Motorcycle and Driving Schools.
