Volvos to be Featured at Fall Vintage Festival

Elkhart Lake, Wis., September 13, 2006 -- Road America will host Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association's (VSCDA) Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival®, September 15-17, 2006.

The feature marque is the Volvo Grand Prix in which over twenty vintage Volvo racecars from across the U.S. and Canada will participate. New Volvo models will be on display through Volvo Cars of North America. The first Volvo Grand Prix was held at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in Northern Illinois in 1996 with nearly twenty cars in attendance, some from as far away as California. Since then, the Vintage Volvo Racers Group has gathered biannually at tracks in the East and Midwest for great racing and to celebrate the marque. This annual racing weekend regularly attracts nearly 300 vintage and historic racecars of all types for three full days of practice, qualifying, and races.

In addition to the Volvo feature race, the other models will run in nine race groups: pre-war, vintage and historic production, vintage and historic sports racing, vintage and historic formula race cars, FIA/WMI prototypes, and historic exhibition. The Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association is a Midwest based not-for-profit organization of 800 members. It holds wheel-to-wheel competition race weekends at major tracks in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan. Participants are afforded ample opportunity for track time and friendly competition via practice and qualifying sessions, sprint races, handicap runs and enduros. VSCDA believes that vintage cars should be driven and their goal is to offer safe, friendly competition with on and off-track camaraderie.

Road America offers diverse racing venues, amazing viewing opportunities, fantastic concessions and high- speed excitement to thousands of spectators each year. Located midway between Milwaukee and Green Bay in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, it offers 628 grassy, rolling acres which include the 4.048 circuit and the .94 mile purpose-built paved and dirt supermoto/karting track.

Admission to the VSCDA Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival® is $30 for a three-day ticket, $10 Friday, $15 Saturday and $15 on Sunday. Parking and paddock access are free with ticket purchase. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by a paid adult. Races run rain or shine. Gate 1 opens at 7:00 a.m. each day. For more information, visit www.roadamerica.com or call 800/365-7223.
