Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge Wine Country Classic rolls into Sears Point Raceway.
What: The glory days of auto racing will return to the Sonoma Valley when hundreds of vintage racing machines visit Sears Point Raceway for the Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge Wine Country Classic, presented by KFTY News Channel 50. The weekend will feature classics like Ferrari, Lotus, Bugatti, Jaguar, Porsche and Corvette competing on the twisting 12-turn, 2.52-mile road course.
Featured cars: For the first time this event will offer three featured classes: Trans-Am muscle cars, including Camaros, Firebirds and Chargers; FIA Manufacturer Championship Cars from Porsche, McLaren and Lola; and vintage Formula One machines such as McLaren, Tyrrell and Williams.
Where: Sears Point Raceway, Highways 37 & 121, Sonoma.
When: Racing action will begin on Wednesday, May 29 with the Hot Rod Drags, held in association with the weekly Wednesday Night Drags program. On-track racing action will begin on Friday, May 31 and continue through Sunday, June 2. Gates open at 7 a.m. May 31-June 2.
Notable: The weekend will also feature a Food and Wine Pavilion located behind Turn 11. This tent will offer fans a sampling of some of the finest wine and food in the region, as well as a great place to relax and enjoy the exciting racing action.
Vintage Race Car Festival: Following racing action on Saturday, a collection of 30 vintage race cars will drive in parade form from Sears Point Raceway to the downtown Sonoma Plaza. The evening will offer an opportunity to view these beautiful cars while sampling food and wine from Sonoma Valley's finest proprietors. Tickets are available for $30 in advance at www.searspoint.com. All proceeds benefit the Sonoma Valley Vistors Bureau and the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation.
