Gilles Villeneuve drives a Ferrari 126C to victory in the Spanish Grand Prix at Jarama (1981).

In the closest finish in CART history - .027 seconds - Mark Blundell wins the Budweiser/G.I. Joe 200 at Portland, Oregon. The win is Blundell's first in CART (1997).

Jim Roper, winner of the first NASCAR stockcar race, dies at age 83 in Newton, Kansas, USA (2000).

Peter Walker and Peter Whitehead give Jaguar their first victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (1951).
