Brock Yates, Brock Yates Jr., Jim Williams, and Steve Smith, in a Dodge van named "Moon Trash II", begin the first Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash. They will travel from New York City to Redondo Beach, California, in 40 hours and 51 minutes (1971).

Derek Bell and Henri Pescarolo drive an Alfa Romeo T33/TT/12 to victory in the 1000K (shortened to 750K because of bad weather) sports car race at Spa, Belgium (1975).
