Watkins Glen ready for major event

THREE YEARS AND RUNNING--STILL THE LARGEST VINTAGE EVENT IN THE COUNTRY

Watkins Glen, NY (September 07, 2005) - The Zippo U.S. Vintage Grand Prix continues to be the largest vintage motorsports event in America for the third consecutive year. In 2003 the record was broken with a record 450 entries. In 2004, the MG's held the 50th Anniversary of the Collier Cup reunion having more than 540 entries. This year, the Zippo US Vintage Grand Prix has almost 500 entries for this weekend's event - marking the third year in a row that The Glen has hosted a vintage event of this magnitude.

This highly-anticipated weekend combines the best in vintage racing on the 3.37-mile road course in at the Home of American Road Racing with a special tribute to racing career of legend Vic Elford, an Antique Auto Show, and motorsports vendors and displays.

"As the sport continues to grow and generate new fans, the Zippo US Vintage Grand Prix has become a tradition in the celebration of motorsports and its rich history in this country."

"We are thrilled that the event is still the largest in America for the third year in a row." Over 70 Alfa's are expected to compete in the Alfa Romeo Reunion on Sunday, September 11.

This weekend, unlike many others, fan access is granted - and a general admission ticket will give fans access to the Pit Terrace Grandstand, the garage and paddock, and even the brand NEW FrontStretch Grandstand! A weekend general admission ticket is only $45.00. Children 5 and under are FREE, while those between the ages of 6-12 will only cost $5.

This weekend history will come alive as the fantastic racing machines of the past roll into Watkins Glen for the largest vintage motorsports event in this country. The weekend will feature an Alfa Romeo Reunion and a large gathering of historic IMSA GT/AAGT/GTX racecars. The Monoposto classic and Formula 70 Racing Series, as well as the MotorCheck Enduro Series and the Mike Stott-UBS Sprint Series, will also add to the headlines of the many historic racing groups that can seen, in action, at The Glen throughout the weekend.

Fans are welcome to peruse the on-site Antique Auto Show, or take a walk through the garage and paddock. Fans can get up-close and personal with these historic racecars. General admission tickets provide fans with access to both the garage and paddock and grants them the ability to choose their own seat from the several different grandstand locations throughout the entire 3.37 mile road-course.
