Berlin/London - The aimed goals are the title of the long track world championship WEC and the win at the 24 hours of Le Mans: The German sports car pilot Stefan Mücke planned a lot for the motor sports season 2013, where he will be on start being a works driver for Aston Martin in the sixth year already. Like 2012, the 31 year old Berlin will be behind the wheel of the Aston Martin Vantage GTE together with his British works driver colleague Darren Turner at the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). Last year the duo had one win, two second positions and four third positions in the GTE Pro Class out of the eight races altogether and they have been the vice team- champion with Aston Martin Racing.

"This year we want to get the world championship title in our class and we want to win the famous 24 hour race of Le Mans on the 22nd to 23rd of June“, Stefan Mücke said, who revealed his new race car with starting number 97 together with his team colleagues on Tuesday evening (5th of February) at the Aston Martin premises in London. "Our class victory at the end of last season and the consistent further development of the Vantage GTE made us very optimistic for the coming season. And during the first test drives with the new car we had the same feelings.“

The Berlin, who was nominated motor sports driver of the year by the ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg in December last year, already had his first success this year on the 12th of January at the 24 hour race of Dubai. Together with Turner and a few other drivers he has been overall third in the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 for the Team Craft Racing AMR from Hongkong. Now he is concentrated on his preparation for the season opening of the WEC with the six hour race of Silverstone (England) on the 14th of April. „This is a home game opening and we want to show a flag already“, Stefan Mücke said, who was the vice champion of the GT1 World Championship in 2011 as well together with Darren Turner in the DBR9. But before that the first hardness test with the Aston Martin Vantage GTE is scheduled for Stefan Mücke on the 16th of March at the 12 hour race of Sebring in Florida (USA).

The Berlin, who still is the consulter of the Mücke Motorsport team of his father Peter, switched to the sports car scene in 2007 after five years as DTM Mercedes pilot. From the first day on he caused furore with a few wins and great positions at front. In 2009 he was the champion of the Le Mans Series in the LMP1 sports car prototype. And at the 24 hour races of Le Mans he mostly was found at the front of the field as well. Stefan Mücke started his motor sports career in 1995 and was the vice champion of the International German Formula 3 Championship in 2001. At his Le Mans premiere race in 2007 he was the best Rookie and had the fastest lap time of all petrol cars in his LMP1 race car. Two years later he finished overall fourth. And during the first year in the GT car in 2012 he had his first podium placing on position three in the GTE Pro Class at his sixth Le Mans participation of the possibly most famous and hardest car race of the world.
