MECHANICSBURG, PA (January 17) - Brian Paulus will return to race full time with the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series in 2000, P and P Motorsports, Inc., announced Monday. "I am very fortunate to have car owners who give me the opportunity to travel and do the racing I want in order to move to the next level," Paulus said as he and his crew built several new Maxim chassis. The #28 will have a new look with a silver and gold color scheme for the 2000 season. "We've stepped up our engine program this year and added another new lightweight engine so we can keep up with the big teams. I guess now you can say it's up to me." Paulus, the first recipient of the Vivarin Perseverance Award, ranked 15th in the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series point standings during his rookie year in 1996. P and P Motorsports has Verdelli Farms, Inc. (http://www.verdelli.com) and Arnold Transportation (http://www.arnoldtrans.com) returning as its sponsors. Verdelli Farms is a regional produce processor with locations in Harrisburg and Hummelstown in Pennsylvania. Its line of products includes pre-cut vegetables and packaged salad mixes. Arnold Transportation, headquartered in Jacksonville, FL, is a division of Arnold Industries, a well-established, well-known transportation organization with more than 65 years of experience in the industry. Associate sponsorship will come from Wirtgen America (http://www.wirtgenamerica.com), Conner-Apicella Orthodontic Associates (http://www.straightsmiles.com), Hank's Performance Products and D.P. Roden Auto Service. Rejoining Paulus will be crew members Mike Trimmer and Jason Cappawana. Both have been with Brian since the middle of last season. Paulus will continue to race in the USAC Silver Crown series. His season starts at Disney World January 28-29. He will also race in the Copper World Classic at Phoenix International Speedway the following weekend. The team will remain on the west coast for the start of the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series season, which opens at Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA, February 25th. Perris Auto Speedway will host the premier sprint car racing series February 26th. While Paulus will miss several of the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series events due to the asphalt schedule, he remains optimistic the team will be competitive throughout the season.
