Channellock, Swindell Reunite for 2000 MEADVILLE, PA (November 12) - Channellock, Inc. and Swindell Motorsports have announced they will once again team up for the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series in 2000. The contract renewal was formally announced during the sprint car series' annual awards banquet in Las Vegas November 4th. Channellock and Sammy Swindell have been a highly visible partnership since 1995, when they competed in the inaugural NASCAR Super Truck Series season. Neither party was satisfied with the results of the venture and, in 1996, returned to the series that made Swindell a household name. Sammy Swindell won his third Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series championship in 1997, his first behind the wheel of the #1 Channellock Stealth. It was his 25th anniversary season in sprint car racing. Swindell finished third in 1998, then proved his team's resolve by overcoming a number of misfortunes throughout the 1999 season. He on a successful late-season surge that resulted in a fifth-place finish in the point standings. In 2000, Swindell will once again mount a full-season attack on the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series championship, and Channellock will again serve as his primary team sponsor. In addition, Channellock has announced its plans to continue as a prominent series sponsor. The company will again sponsor the nightly Channellock Dash, which determines the starting order for the first eight positions in each event's Feature race. Channellock will also sponsor the Mechanic of the Year Award and serve as the "Official Tool of the World of Outlaws." "Every driver likes to develop a good relationship with a sponsor," Swindell said. "It makes everything easier on everyone when there's a history and an understanding between them. Channellock has been with us for five years now. We've worked through tough seasons that didn't go the way we wanted, and we've had the satisfaction of a championship too. It's just been a great partnership all around." Echoing Swindell's sentiment, Channellock President and CEO Bill DeArment said, "Sammy is a first-class driver and a genuine individual. Channellock is fortunate to have established a strong relationship with such an outstanding driver and team. We not only have a good business relationship with the Swindells, we have become much like family over the years. Channellock looks forward to another great season with Swindell Motorsports in 2000."
