Sammy Swindell Secures ChannelLock Sponsorship It's a special shade of blue. No one else can use it. It's one of those rare trademarked colors registered by a corporation to separate it from the competition. You're familiar with the tools. They have the blue handles. They're ChannelLock tools. In 1996, for the first time ever, that increasingly familiar blue will become better known in sprint car circles across America when ChannelLock checks to see how well its blue mixes with the black and white checkers. ChannelLock has announced that it will sponsor Sammy Swindell's famous #1 sprint car. In conjunction with bringing ChannelLock onboard, Swindell says he's going to run for a third Skoal Outlaw Series championship this season. "I'm not going to be racing the trucks this year," Swindell said. "I'm only going to run the sprint car and I'm glad to have ChannelLock sponsoring me again. I went to them last year and got them to sponsor our SuperTruck. They were behind me 100%. We had some bad luck and some bad things happened, but they stuck with me. They believed in me. We had talked about them doing something with the sprint car lately. Originally, they were going to be an associate, but now they're going to be my major sponsor. It didn't hurt that I was wearing a ChannelLock uniform when we won the Chili Bowl. "We're going to run the whole year with the World of Outlaws now. Before, we were only going to run about half the schedule. We've had some good years when we've run all the races. Maybe I can win another championship. "I called Bill DeArment, the President of ChannelLock, and explained my situation to him in early January. Shortly thereafter, Bob Cannon, the vice president of marketing, visited out shop and we talked about how ChannelLock could benefit from a sprint car sponsorship with the World of Outlaws. We got to know each other real well during last year's NASCAR SuperTruck Series. I gained a lot of respect for the way they do business. ChannelLock makes very high-tory at Bridgeport Speedway in August, Sammy returned to New Jersey and completed his sweep of the World of Outlaws feature races at the track in October. Swindell opened the 1996 racing season in Tulsa, and captured his third Chili Bowl midget champios career as an associate sponsor with his sprint car team, so when the opportunity became available to take the primary position we were immediately interested. Sammy has already gained legendary status in sprint car racing, and we're real excited to be rin. WoO
