Lasoski injured following practice crash in Pennsylvania: WoO point leader held overnight for observation following accident

CONCORD, NC (July 27, 2002) -- Pennzoil World of Outlaws point leader Danny "The Dude" Lasoski was injured last night following a crash during hot-laps for the second night's action in Mechanicsburg (PA). Lasoski was transferred to a local hospital for observation. Lasoski suffered a concussion, a bruised lung and a sore shoulder and was complaining of pain in his ankle. All X-Rays came back negative. Lasoski will be released from the hospital later today or tomorrow.

"You know him; he really wants to get out of there," said Lasoski's father, George. "They took the neck collar off of him this morning. He will be out of the hospital today or tomorrow. They are still looking at the bruised lung and making sure nothing is more serious there. He is going to be ok. It was just one of those bad deals. His right rear tire blew, we're not sure why, and he went straight into the fence."

Lasoski was unconscious for about 12 minutes following the accident. It is unclear at this time when he will return to the racecar. Team owner Tony Stewart is scheduled to fly up to see Lasoski following today's NASCAR Winston Cup Happy Hour.
