World Finals Thursday Night
Elite Racing News and Notes from the World Finals - Qualifying Edition

On a night that almost did not happen because of lingering showers in the Charlotte area, Jason Meyers and his Elite Racing team set the stage for their World Finals weekend. With two rounds of qualifying sitting before them, it would take one quick lap in each qualifying session in order to lay the foundation for what could be a championship weekend.

In the first round of single-lap qualifying in the #14 Allstar Performance KPC, Jason Meyers was 22nd out to time trial. Meyers in a single revolution of the track recorded a lap of 12.852, which was 13th quickest in the session. The qualifying effort would earn the Californian the pole of Heat 1 on Friday night. The second round of qualifying saw Meyers go out 33rd. In that session Meyers timed in 5th with a lap of 12.862 and as a result Meyers earned one qualifying point. Saturday night the #14 GLR Investments KPC will be starting 3rd in the 1st heat race.

High Definition SPEED: See Jason Meyers and Elite Racing live in HD

In racing quality is key. From the driver in the seat to the smallest gear on the vehicle, it takes everything being top-quality to win. This weekend the broadcast of Jason Meyers and his Elite Racing team contending for the World of Outlaws title will also be high-quality as the race will be broadcast for the first time in HD on SPEED on Saturday night starting at 8:00pm Eastern Time.

The broadcast will be led by popular SPEED personality Dave Despain for the fourth consecutive year, along with Bobby Gerould and hall-of-famer Brad Doty calling the Sprint Car action. Considering there is expected to be 150 cars contending for a spot in one of the three A-mains to be run on Saturday night, Sarah Jane Hunt and Tony Bokhoven will be busy uncovering all of the stories in the pits.

Back in Black: Star Struck in Charlotte

This weekend the Elite Racing team will be bringing back the Allstar Performance car that was last seen on the track at Knoxville Nationals. The popular black paint scheme with white stars will be ran all three nights of The World Finals and will hopefully bring Meyers luck as he attempts to clinch the 2010 World of Outlaws title.

Meyers' partnership with Allstar Performance began 6 years ago after his first visit to the Lane Automotive facility in 2004. Following the visit, Meyers decided to run an Allstar decal on his car that evening in an effort to show the team's appreciation for the hospitality and support that they had been showed by the Lane Group. Since that evening, the two have worked side-by-side, not only to strengthen the #14 car's program, but to further develop and improve the Allstar Performance product line. Meyers has worked closely with the employee group at Allstar Performance for six years now to improve and enhance their product offerings. As a result of this partnership, Allstar has utilized the latest technology and information to produce cutting edge components throughout the line.

Up Next

The last two nights of 2010 now lay before Jason Meyers and his Elite Racing team. On Friday night November 5th and Saturday night November 6th the World Finals will decide who takes the 2010 championship. It promises to be two exciting night as Elite Racing tries to make history and become the first team from California to win the World of Outlaws title.

Meyers on Charlotte

"It's been a great event since they put it together down in Charlotte and I've always enjoyed it. Every year the race track has been good and the racing has been good. We're looking forward to going down there again this year and with them adding the Big Block Modifieds this year, I'm anxious to see what that will do to the race track. It should be a packed house again this year and a great race. Charlotte is a big horsepower track, but you have to get your car to roll around there as well. It's a little bit different than any other track we go to and we've had a good car down there the last few years. You have to be able to roll the corner there and be able to get the horsepower to the ground. We're really looking forward to heading over there."

"Our goal is to go out there and win at least one of the races in Charlotte and put an exclamation point on the season," Meyers shared. "We have been able to do that the last couple of years and we have always enjoyed racing down there. We have been working hard these two weeks for this. We are going to go hard through the end of the year. That is what got us to this point and that is how we are going to finish it. We are going to go down there and put a show on for the fans and end the season on a high note."

Meyers on the 2010 season

"It's been a great season overall," Meyers said. "It has been kind of up and down. In some ways this has been the best season ever and in other ways it has not been. The highs have been really high and the lows have been really low. We had ten wins this season which is the highest so far in my career and to be leading the points is a great feeling. We need to go into Charlotte and have two consistent runs and win our first championship. It has been a tough year, but so far our hard work has paid off. We kept our heads up during the tough times and everyone has been very resilient. Championships are not easy to win and being able to fight through everything has put us where we are today."
