Elite Racing encounters Junction Motor Speedway and Lakeside Speedway

A junction is defined as a place where two meet. In racing, each weekend in a way becomes a junction as man and machine assemble to compete. As Jason Meyers and his Elite Racing crew came together this weekend, the two aligned to contend at two tracks in two different states.

Meyers finishes fourth at Junction Motor Speedway

At Junction Motor Speedway Meyers was on a roll at the beginning of the night, winning both his heat race and the dash to start on the pole of Friday night's feature event. At the drop of the green flag, Meyers jetted out to the lead. Briefly Donny Schatz would try to get on the inside of Meyers for the lead, but the #14 GRL Investments KPC held strong. Meyers went to work on the high side of the track and by the 5th revolution of the track, he had built a two second lead over his closest competitor.

The first caution flag of the night would fly on Lap 8 and would set up a side-by-side restart. Meyers chose the topside and held off Schatz once again when race action resumed. Meyers was riding high in the cushion while Schatz and Brooke Tatnell contended for the 2nd position.

Tatnell took second on Lap 12 and started closing in on Meyers for the lead. On Lap 15 Tatnell was right on Meyers' bumper and on the following lap he pulled by his side and executed a slide job to take the lead. Meyers would fight back, but the caution flag would come out on Lap 19.

On the restart, Meyers was in the outside line. When the green flag flew, Meyers got caught up in the shuffle and fell back to the 4th position. Meyers would fight diligently over the final laps of the race to regain the lost spots, but would run out of time. Tatnell would go on to win the race with Meyers finishing 4th behind Schatz and Dollansky.

"My #14 DDNI car was great tonight, but we just got shuffled back on that final restart," stated Meyers. "I really hate it for my guys, they work so hard and unfortunately I had a bad restart and did not have enough laps to regain the positions. I have to thank DDNI, GLR Investments, Media Tile, TriQuint, Elite Landscaping and everyone who is behind us week after week. We will just have to come back tomorrow night in Kansas and try to make up those three spots at Lakeside Speedway."

Lessons learned at Lakeside Speedway: Meyers Thirteenth

After an overnight trip, Meyers and his Elite Racing squad were ready to race at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. Due to an off qualifying lap, Meyers was chasing to make up ground all evening. After failing to make it to the dash, Meyers started 14th in the feature.

When the green flag fell on the feature, Meyers quickly got around Kraig Kinser to pick up the thirteenth position on the first lap, but on the following lap the red flag would come out. On the restart, Meyers would get caught up and fall back to the 15th position.

On the following restart on Lap 11, Meyers would get the favored line and move up to 12th getting past Brooke Tatnell and Jason Sides. Meyers would begin to start chasing down Schatz for 11th position, but the caution flag would fly again on Lap 16. On the following restart, Meyers was not in the favored line and fell back to the 14th position. As a result of Joey Saldana having a motor issue in the closing laps, Meyers would move up to the 13th position. Over the remaining laps, Meyers would attempt to chase down Danny Lasoski for the 12th position, but would have to settle for 13th while Steve Kinser went on to win.

"Tonight we got behind in qualifying and just could not seem to make it up," said Meyers. "My team and all the people behind me work so hard week in and week out. They definitely deserve more than a 13th place finish. We are going to learn from tonight, regroup, and prepare for our next race on Tuesday night and try to make it up at Sedalia."

Up Next for Elite Racing....

Jason Meyers and his Elite Racing crew will be back on track Tuesday night June, 29 when the World of Outlaws make up Kasey's King of Sedalia at Missouri State Fair Speedway which fell victim to rain a few weeks ago. After the team will be traveling north to Husets Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota on Thursday, July 1 and North Central Speedway in Brainerd, Minnesota on Saturday, July 3.
