Elite Racing News and Notes: Gearing up for a Busy December

Now that most of us have either stuffed a turkey or are as stuffed as a turkey thanks to Thanksgiving Day, it is time to interrupt your holiday celebration with a little racing news from Elite Racing. After winning the 2010 World of Outlaws Title the entire Elite Racing team has a lot to be thankful for from the family the team has become to their accomplishments this season. Even though there hasn't been any racing for almost a month, the schedule for Jason Meyers and his Elite Racing team has not slowed.

The Big Show

This week in Indianapolis, Jason Meyers and Elite Racing will be a part of the International Motorsports Industry Show (IMIS). Meyers' #14 DDNi KPC will be on display as a part of the Hall of Champions at the show, which will run December 1 through 3. Meyers will also be a part of the INgear conference during the show, as well as taking part in the Shane Hmiel Racing to Recovery event.

On Tuesday night after the IMIS kick off reception, Jason Meyers will be signing autographs at the Shane Hmiel Racing to Recovery Public Benefit that will be held at Jillian's in downtown Indianapolis. The benefit will run from 7 - 11 p.m. and Jillian's will be donating 10% of all food/beverage sales from that night to Shane Hmeil's recovery fund.

This will be the fourth year for INgear and the Indiana Motorsports Association brings together some of the leaders from the industry to talk to the future of our industry, students at local universities. On Friday morning, Meyers will be on a panel speaking with students about the importance of communication and teamwork in motorsports with USAC Champion Levi Jones and three-time NHRA Top Fuel Champion Larry Dixon.

Opening the doors

It is not everyday that you have an opportunity to go "behind the scenes" of a championship caliber race team. As a part of the IMIS show Elite Racing will be providing a unique opportunity to sponsors and partners by opening the doors of the Elite Racing shop in Brownsburg, Indiana on Wednesday night November 1.

The open house will run from 6:00 to 9:00 pm and beverages and hors d'oeuvres will be severed. Starting at 5:30 pm a shuttle that will run every hour from the convention center will be provided to show attendees wanting to tour the Elite Racing facility.

SPEED Performance Awards

In 2010, Jason Meyers had to make some amazing moves on the track to collect 12 victories. Some may not be as memorable as others, but one race where Meyers started 18th and won with a last lap pass does stand out, even if it was Meyers' first victory of the season. SPEED TV has ranked Jason Meyers victory over Steve Kinser at Las Vegas as one of the best moves of the year, which puts Meyers in his #14 GLR Investments KPC in contention for a SPEED Performance Award for Move of the Year.

Five nominees for each category have been selected by an esteemed panel of 8 auto racing writers, broadcasters, and drivers including: Auto Racing legend Mario Andretti and SPEED broadcaster Dave Despain. Then it is left up to the fans to select the winner of each award. To vote for Jason Meyers victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway as the best move of the year visit: www.speedperformanceawards.com/category/best_move. The awards will be handed out on a television broadcast in the New Year.
