Putting Together the Winning Recipe
California Cooking: Elite Racing's Recipe for Success in 2011

Every seasoned chef knows that a little dash of this and a pinch of that can make all the difference in the success of a dish. The same can be said for winning a World of Outlaws title. Last year, Jason Meyers and his Elite Racing team found the winning combination that led them to new highs. Now that the team knows how to concoct a championship, it is time to try to repeat their title hopes for 2011, but this time with just a little more spice. Here are some of the ingredients that Elite Racing has put together to begin their 2011 title defense:

A teaspoon of California -Jason Meyers and his Elite Racing team is the first and only World of Outlaws team based in California to win the championship.

1/8 Cup of Champion -Jason Meyers is only the eighth driver to win a World of Outlaws title. He joins the ranks of: Steve Kinser, Donny Schatz, Sammy Swindell, Bobby Davis Jr., Dave Blaney, Mark Kinser, and Danny Lasoski as title winners.

A pound of Team Work - This year Meyers will not have a crew chief, but a group of trusted crewmembers to drive his title defense. Joining the team new for 2011 is Shane Bowers who brings the experience of winning 4 championships and 4 Knoxville Nationals to the team. Also returning to the team for 2011 are Glen Beaton, Brian Bloomfield, and Sam Mathews.

A Dash of Speed - A key area in which Meyers excelled last season was qualifying. He led the series in 2010 in quick time awards. With points being awarded to the top-5 qualifiers, Meyers gained valuable points by being the quickest in 2010. Meyers also led the series in qualifying points collecting 104 of his championship points during qualifying. In the past two seasons Meyers has led the series in bonus points collected.

A Gallon of Garrett Horsepower - In sprint car racing, everyone knows that Pennsylvania native Charlie Garrett with the help of Scott Hoofnagle produces some of the best horsepower around. With some development that the duo did over the off season, 2011 promises to be another high-powered season.

Sprinkle with Victories - Meyers collected twelve victories in 2010, which is a career best with the World of Outlaws. The tracks Jason has won at last season include: The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Thunderbowl Raceway, Volunteer Speedway, Tri-State (Okla.) Speedway, Virginia Motor Speedway, I-96 Speedway, North Central Speedway, I-55 Raceway, Castrol Raceway Silver Dollar Speedway and The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

A Pinch of Gold - In 2010 Jason Meyers and his Elite Racing team won some notable events. Meyers' biggest victory of the season came in the Gold Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway. With this victory Meyers broke the streak of not having a Californian win the Gold Cup since 1989 and he also became only the third Californian in history to win the title. Other big victories include the Ironman 55 at Pevely and the World Finals in Charlotte.

An Ounce of Fun - At the championship banquet Meyers said, "Usually it bothers me when I am watching something like Dancing with the Stars with my wife and when someone gets a bad score they play it off as it is okay, we had fun. Who cares if you have fun? It is about winning right? Well, now I am going to sound like a hypocrite because we had a lot of fun this year. We have enjoyed the good nights and not let the bad nights get us down. It is this element of fun that I am looking forward to keeping around next season."

A Pint of Crown - Last season Meyers not only won the championship, but he also won the Bud Crown which was a mini-series of events. Meyers won the first event in Bulls Gap, Tennessee and then was the most consistent driver over the remaining four races.

Bake until Golden - In 2010 Meyers had the least number of DNFs of any driver on the track. This helped the team gain valuable points towards the champion's crown.

And of Course....

If it Works, Double the Recipe - In 2010, Meyers was one of only two drivers who won two races in a row. He was also the only driver to do it twice this season with victories at Las Vegas and Thunderbowl Raceway at the beginning of the season and two victories at the Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway to end the season.
