MEYERS WINS GOLD CUP, SALDANA RETAKES WoO CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD

CHICO, Calif. (Sept. 13, 2010) -- Jason Meyers held off a determined challenge from both Steve Kinser and Paul McMahan to win the Gold Cup after three nights of racing at Silver Dollar Speedway.

The special event has a point system unique to itself. Meyers started on the pole on the final night and, while he had to fight off the repeated advances of Kinser and McMahan, he was still up front at the end.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the rear tire positions for the World of Outlaws Series Sprint Car Series, as well as other traveling series and weekly racing programs around the country.

While Meyers won the Gold Cup, he lost the lead in the WoO championship standings. He led the standings after night one at Silver Dollar, but lost it back to Joey Saldana the next night. At the end of the event, Saldana led with 7,916 points. Meyers was next at 7,914 and Steve Kinser was third with 7,861.

Meyers finished third and fifth before winning on the third night at Chico.

On the first night, Sammy Swindell won the feature. Jonathan Allard was second, followed by Brad Sweet, Meyers and Sam Hafertepe Jr. Donny Schatz won the second feature, ahead of Paul McMahan, Saldana, Jason Sides and Meyers. Meyers' victory on the third night came ahead of Kinser, McMahan, Jac Haudenschild and Schatz.
