SALDANA WINS WoO RACE AT THUNDERHILL, TIES KINSER ATOP STANDINGS

TULARE, Calif. (March 21, 2011) – Joey Saldana lost the lead to Jason Meyers and then got it back in time to win the World of Outlaws race at Thunderhill Raceway. It was enough to vault Saldana into a tie for the lead in the championship standings.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the rear wheel positions in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. Goodyear is also the Official Tire Company for the series. That standing with the WoO, as well as with the O’Reilly All Stars Circuit of Champions, has led dirt tracks around the United States and Canada to choose Goodyear tires for their weekly sprint car competitors.

Saldana and Meyers were the leaders when racing resumed after a caution period with 17 laps complete and Meyers rushed ahead to take the lead. Saldana went around Meyers to lead lap 22 and, while it was close at the finish, Saldana got the win.

Meyers was second, followed by Donny Schatz, Jac Haudenschild and Sammy Swindell. Meyers posted the best lap during qualifying.

The WoO race scheduled for the previous night at Giants Chevrolet Kings Speedway was not completed. The feature race was not run due to rain. It will be held March 31.

Saldana and Steve Kinser are tied at the top of the standings with 1,280 points. Meyers is third with 1,226.
