Schatz scored two main event wins on the same night at Williams Grove Speedway when he won the preliminary feature and a make up race for an early-season rain out in Mechanicsburg, Penn.
In the preliminary feature, Schatz had the lead when a late-race caution flag bunched the field together, allowing frontrunners one more shot at Schatz. But the Goodyear driver got a great start when the green flag came out and won the race by 20 car lengths. In the make up Feature, Schatz led a strong Goodyear contingent as Tim Shaffer finished third and Mark Kinser took fourth.
The next night at Williams Grove Goodyear teams again took three of the top four finishing positions as Schatz finished second, Smith was third and Shaffer was fourth.
Goodyear grip was in evidence again when the series reconvened at Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Md. This time, Smith won the feature and Schatz took second. Dale Blaney finished third.
Schatz won again at New Egypt Speedway. Shepard was second.
