Forbrook, Hodnett to Hit Outlaws Trail By Richard Day

MORGAN, MN (February 14) - The defending Knoxville Raceway championship car owner, a prominent CART Indycar racing family and a former World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year will combine to put a new team on the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series circuit this season. Guy Forbrook, the crew chief on Steve Kinser's championship team in 1998, and the V-12 racing team have formed Millennium Racing. The team hired 1993 Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series Rookie of the Year Greg Hodnett as its driver. "We're really excited about this," Forbrook said. "We're going to run the whole season. Wirtgen, Jackpot Junction Casino and Kele & Associates will start out with us, but we're also hoping to add another sponsor in March. We might be able to announce that in Las Vegas. "This is what I've always wanted to do. This has been my goal since I left Jack Elden Racing a few years ago. I won another Knoxville championship last year and now we're ready to go." The Vasser family and friends, including Jim Vasser, Sr., and Tommy Enea, will work with Forbrook, who will oversee the day-to-day operation of the V-12 Wirtgen Maxim. Jimmy Vasser, Jr., the 1996 CART PPG champion, will have an interest in the team while pursuing his second title with the Target/Chip Ganassi racing team. "Jimmy will come out and watch some of the races," Forbrook said, "but his main focus will be the CART Indycar team." Forbrook, whose 1999 championship with Terry McCarl was his eighth at Knoxville Raceway, had Hodnett in his car for the last two Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series in 1999. Hodnett raced into eighth place in the goracing.com Western World Championships at Manzanita Speedway, then finished 19th in the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series Presented by Wirtgen at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Greg drove the #12 Apple Motorsports sprinter to victory in the Eldora Clash last July 16th. It was the third Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series "A" Feature victory of his career. "I'm really looking forward to coming back and working with Guy," Hodnett said. "He has a lot of experience getting a race car around the race track. "I had a really good time with the Apple Motorsports team the last couple of years. They're down sizing their schedule and this opportunity came along, so I'm coming back." Forbrook is pleased to have Hodnett in his car as he enters his first year as a Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series car owner. "I'm looking forward to racing with Greg," Guy said. "He's a good racer and a focused person. He works out and he's ready to race. I think we can be very competitive this season. We have good equipment and good people behind us." WoO
