Hamilton hires Max Dumesny

HAMILTON HIRES MAX DUMESNY AS TEMPORARY DRIVER OF #77 By Richard Day MANHEIM, PA (August 1) - With Jeff Shepard still recovering from injuries suffered at Eldora Speedway on July 22nd, Al Hamilton hired Austrailian Max Dumesny Monday as the temporary driver of #77 MAC Tools J&J. "Max is going to drive the car until we see what happens with Jeff," Hamilton said. "Jeff is still in the hospital (Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH), and we really don't know at this point when he'll be able to race again. His nose was broken in several places, and they put plates in both of his eye sockets. They also put plates in his cheek bones. "Jeff is still a member of our team, and will be getting back in the car as soon as he's ready. At this point, I can't speculate on the time frame. He's in good spirits - he'd like to think he could come back and race right now, but he knows he can't. He's been in the hospital almost two weeks - and they haven't released him yet - so we had to make a decision to get a driver in the car." Dumesny, who raced at Knoxville Raceway for parts of five seasons, just arrived in the United States a week ago. Hamilton said Dumesny would be in the #77 when the World of Outlaws sanctioned Lernerville Speedway's Silver Cup III race Tuesday. "This worked out quite well," Dumesny said. "I don't think Mr. Hamilton could have made a better choice. I raced at Lernerville once about five years ago. I guess I'll be in the car until Jeff gets fully recovered." Hamilton added that Shepard would be at the Knoxville Nationals (August 17-20) with the #77 MAC Tools show car. "He's really looking forward to going to Knoxville," Hamilton said. "I don't think he's planning to race there, although miracles can happen." WoO *eot
