Martin looking to rebound in Ohio this weekend!

(5/10/2006 Indianapolis, IN) Last weekend marked the return of the Hitman, Jason Martin to the cockpit of the NOS Energy Drinks/Mafia Motorsports #36 Maxim and hopes were high. The youngster provided plenty of thrills unfortunately the finishes were both out of the top 20. At US 36 a lean motor led to a poor qualifying time and caused the Liberal, Kansas native to miss the invert and start well back in his heat. Starting 7th, Martin piloted the #36 Maxim to a 5th place finish and a start in the A main. Unfortunately a shock mount broke and would cause the Hitman to bicycle hard in turns 3 -- 4 and flip resulting in a disappointing 22nd place finish.

At Husets the team would break out a new car, and Martin would improve vastly on his qualifying with a 15th best time out of 32 cars. The heat would see Martin again finish 5th and enter the "A" main, due to some fast qualifiers not transferring out of their heats, Jason would qualify for the 2nd dash. Starting last on the field, Martin would take the high line on the start and jump to 3rd on the opening lap. While the high side was fast it was also beginning to slick and a 360 spin would send Martin to a 6th place finish and a 12th place starting position in the "A". The NOS Energy Drinks/Mafia Motorsports #36 Maxim was fast and maybe too fast as the team chose a soft tire on a track that was eating rubber. Again running the high side in a hot battle for position and not giving an inch Martin would run out of room and catch the wall off turn 4 and collect several competitors and ending his night with a 21st finishing position. The Martin Motorsports team did maintain it's 12th place points position with the World of Outlaws but Jason knows if the finishes don't improve he can quickly fall in the points battle.

"This is really the start of our season." Said Martin. "It's a long season and we just have to be consistent. The crew has given me great cars each night and my focus has to be on driving and bringing home top finishes. When your used to running with different series and not chasing points it is a different mind set and I am working on that part. This is my dream to run with these guys and we definitely have the team to do it. A lot of these tracks will be my first time to but with all of the racing we did in the past it makes it a bit easier to adapt. I have a few of the guys like Craig (Dollansky) I can talk to about what is the best package for the track and they have been very helpful. You just keep plugging at it and the finishes will take care of themselves."
