MARION, IN (October 27) -- Kasey Kahne is the hottest driver on four wheels. Sprints, Midgets or Champ Cars, pavement or dirt, with wings or without, the 20-year-old driver from the Pacific Northwest has been up front in many forms of motorsports, recently clinching the 2000 USAC/Worldcom Midget Championship at the historic Winchester Speedway. SpeedRacer Enterprises recognizes the huge accomplishments this motorsports "Young Gun" has already put in the record books, and is proud to announce that Kahne will drive a commemorative SpeedRacer.com sprint car in the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series season finale at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway October 31st and November 1st. This SpeedRacer car will see competition only one time -- in Las Vegas -- and will celebrate the launch of the all new "SpeedRacer.com" web site. This event will be commemorated by GMP die-cast with a limited edition, 1:18th scale replica SpeedRacer/Kasey Kahne car. This collectible will be the second release in a new series entitled "The Young Guns," created by JDK Motorsports. "I had the opportunity to put Tyler Walker, another "Young Gun," in the Ratbag #10 car at the Bristol Motor Speedway this summer ... and we thought a die-cast to celebrate the first-ever World of Outlaws video game (developed by Ratbag) would be a pretty neat, and a highly collectible item to offer fans of Tyler and the video game," JD Kramer, President of JDKM, said. "I've had the opportunity to watch Kasey race quite a bit in the past few years and the kid has some serious skills. "The "Young Guns" series of die-cast cars with Tyler and Kasey is an idea that came from wondering, 'how can I help these guys get a bit of high-profile attention and some racing funds when they need it, early in their careers.'" The association of Kahne and SpeedRacer is not your normal sponsorship scenario, as Kramer said. "This is 'sales-driven' sponsorship in its truest form. Kasey and I have split the costs for painting and designing this race car in hopes that we can sell enough of the GMP die-cast thru our web sites to not only cover those costs, but put some money into Kasey's racing budget for 2001. Kasey is a racer, pure and simple, and pretty humble. He doesn't worry too much about any "self-promotion," but I know the size of the fan base that SpeedRacer has around the world and this will be a pretty big deal for the avid follower ... a real SpeedRacer race car on the race track. It should turn a few heads -- and hopefully create some new fans for Kasey in his rise to the top of the motorsports world." The first "Young Guns" die-cast from GMP (Tyler Walker/Ratbag Games #10) will be available in late December/early January and the Kasey Kahne/SpeedRacer car will follow suit soon after. Interested parties should email JD Kramer (jdk@RatbagRacing.com) with inquiries and order reservations, or call 1-888-710-0308. Speed Racer Enterprises, Inc., formed in 1991, owns the worldwide rights to the SpeedRacer animated series. The company also manages all related licensing and promotional activities on a worldwide basis. For more information on Speed Racer e-mail James Rocknowski at mahagogogo@aol.com. WoO
