World of Outlaws Return to Manzanita Speedway on March 3

While most of the country will still be fighting off the cold and snow of winter, the World of Outlaws will be in the Arizona desert on Saturday March 3 to do battle at the famed Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix.

Leading the way will be reigning series Champion Donny Schatz, a past winner at the track, along with 20-time series titlist Steve Kinser, who has nine career wins at Manzanita, including in his last two starts at the half-mile in 2004 and 2005.

Other past winners who will be in attendance include: Jac Haudenschild, who holds the track qualifying record of 15.34 second as well as Daryn Pittman.

Last October, Pittman used a dominating performance to pick up his fifth A-Feature win of the season and first career victory at the storied track to add his name to the winner's list that includes many legends of American open wheel racing including: Mario Andretti, A.J. Foyt, Parnelli Jones, and the Unser's.

Pittman, a native of Owasso, Okla., held off a charging Schatz over the last two laps to pick up his 19th career series win. Schatz closed to within a few car lengths but came up just short.

In the series first visit of the year to the track on March 3, Danny Lasoski, the 2001 World of Outlaws Champion picked up the victory. Lasoski and Schatz battled side-by-side, exchanging the lead back and forth, before Lasoski powered to the bottom in Turn 1 and weaved through traffic to pick up the victory.

Driver who turned in solid performances at Manzanita last season that will be in action again include: Craig Dollansky, Terry McCarl, Joey Saldana, and Brooke Tatnell.

Four California natives that are well know to the Arizona fans will also be in attendance as Randy Hannagan, Tim Kaeding, Paul McMahan, driving for two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart, and Jason Meyers, all take to the track.

Other drivers expected at the track include: Becca Anderson, rookie Tony Bruce Jr., Brian Carlson, Jeremy Campbell, Justin Henderson, rookie Chad Hillier, Dion Hindi, Chad Kemenah, rookie Kerry Madsen, Jason Martin, rookie James Mosher, Bill Rose, Tim Shaffer, Jason Sides, and Jason Solwold.
