The Pennzoil World of Outlaws made their debut last weekend at NASCAR's most popular facility, Bristol Motor Speedway. The Channellock Challenge was a huge success with an estimated crowd of more than 50,000 on hand for Saturday night's finale. The crowd is a new record for the WoO and Mark Kinser and Sammy Swindell claimed the victories. Swindell was leading Friday night when an accident occurred directly in front of him causing Swindell's Channellock #1 to flatten a right rear tire and take away the possible victory with five laps remaining. On Saturday, Swindell and Steve Kinser chased down early leader Donny Schatz and battled for the lead. Swindell led the final 16 laps to claim the $20,000 victory of which he only received $10,000 because of fine from an earlier altercation with an Outlaw official. Stevie Smith finished second ahead of Steve Kinser, Mark Kinser and 17th-starting Dale Blaney. Steve Kinser continues to lead the points chase ahead of Mark Kinser, Smith, Swindell, Danny Lasoski and Blaney. The series will compete this week at Farmer City Raceway in Illinois on Tuesday before making a three-night stop at Heartland Raceway Park. Saturday's finale will be aired on TNN Sports beginning at 11 PM (ET).
