JOPLIN, MO (March 25, 2000) - As the World of Outlaws continue their trek through the mid-west, Channellock's Sammy Swindell continues to show the consistency needed to be a championship contender at season's end. In two nights of action at Joplin 66 Speedway in Joplin, MO, Swindell finished 3rd and 6th respectively. In Saturday's finale, Swindell chased WoO points leader Danny Lasoski, Steve Kinser, Lance Blevins, Dale Blaney and Craig Dollansky to checkered flag in the 30-lap "A" Feature.

"It wasn't the best weekend, but we can't feel bad about two top-six finishes," said Swindell, who is currently 4th in the WoO Points Standings. "The track took rubber on Saturday night early in the program so after the Channellock Dash, the officials moved the retaining tires in allowing for more racing area which caught us off guard. We ran pretty well on the Goodyear tires finishing sixth, but we'll take the finish and go to Texas and see what we can do there."

On Friday, Swindell qualified the Channellock #1 Stealth 11th in the field of 48 cars. Second place finishes in both his heat race and the second Channellock Dash enabled Swindell to start the 20-lap Preliminary Feature in the fourth position. Swindell raced with Steve Kinser for most of the race before passing Kinser late in the race finished third, locking the Channellock #1 into Saturday's Channellock Dash.

Being locked into Saturday's program allowed Swindell and the team to keep a close eye on the racing surface, but not being on the track might have slowed the Channellock Team slightly. Swindell finished fourth in his Channellock Dash, which earned him a fourth place starting position for the 30-lap "A"-Feature. In the feature, Swindell raced within the top five for most of the race before finishing sixth. Following Saturday's program, Swindell promptly flew to Bristol, TN, where his Channellock #1 Stealth took a few laps around Bristol Motor Speedway for the delight of the 150,000 fans in attendance for Sunday's Food City 500 Winston Cup Race. Sammy's participation in this pre-race event was part of an aggressive program to publicize the upcoming Channellock Challenge at Bristol on June 9 & 10.

On Thursday and Friday, Swindell and the Channellock team will make their first appearance at Texas Motor Speedway's new 4/10-mile dirt track in the Southern Bleacher Showdown. Both programs will be shown live on TNN: The Nashville Network beginning at 10 PM (ET). k
