World of Outlaws Preview: KC-Raceway

Alma, OH--July 31, 2009--The busiest stretch of the season wraps up for the World of Outlaws this weekend at K-C Raceway in Ohio, on Saturday, August 1 as the series will compete for the 14th time in a 28-day period as they make their annual stop at the high-banked 3/8-mile bullring.

The World of Outlaws made their debut at K-C Raceway in 2003 and the event this weekend will mark the seventh consecutive season that the series has competed at the track. Donny Schatz, the three-time and defending series champion, was victorious at the track last season and leads the series with three wins at K-C Raceway, with the others coming in 2005 and 2006.

Jason Meyers won at K-C Raceway in 2004 and in the six pervious events at the track for the World of Outlaws, four drivers have picked up wins. Daryn Pittman was the winner in the series inaugural race at the track in 2003, while Terry McCarl won there in 2007.

The race this weekend will mark the World of Outlaws lone visit to K-C Raceway and will be the sixth of seven races in the state of Ohio this season for the series.

Heading into the race on Saturday, August 1, Donny Schatz holds a 46-point lead over Jason Meyers in the series championship standings as he chases his fourth consecutive title. Joey Saldana is third in points, with 20-time series champion Steve Kinser fourth and Jason Sides who recently won his first race of the season in fifth.

A trio of wins: Steve Kinser has three career wins at K-C Raceway with the first of those coming back in 1981. He has eight career Top-10 finishes in nine starts at the track. The 20-time series champion has won twice this season is currently fourth in the series championship standings. He has racked up 34 Top-10 finishes this season with 23 of those being Top-Five performances. The 20-time series champion is chasing his first World of Outlaws win at K-C Raceway.

A home state race: Jac Haudenschild competed at K-C Raceway for the first time back in 1978, winning for the first time at the track that same season. A track he knows: Brian Ellenberger, who is a contender for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award this season, has competed seven times in his career at K-C Raceway.
