Donny Schatz Aiming to Fend Off World of Outlaws Late Model Stars When LaCrosse Extreme Tough Challenge Heads to World Finals

CONCORD, NC - Oct. 12, 2010 - Donny Schatz was strong enough on Saturday night at New York's Rolling Wheels Raceway to retake the overall lead in the LaCrosse Extreme Tough Challenge heading into the decisive World of Outlaws World Finals Nov. 4-6 at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

Schatz's Tony Stewart Racing teammate Steve Kinser emerged victorious on Saturday night to move back into contention while Schatz's runner-up performance allowed him to open a 4-point lead over World of Outlaws Late Model Series racers Josh Richards and Darrell Lanigan atop the Extreme Tough Challenge championship standings.

Jason Meyers, Kraig Kinser and Danny Lasoski also earned points at Rolling Wheels to set up the final showdown between the World of Outlaws Sprint Car stars and the World of Outlaws Late Model warriors.

Kinser, a 20-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion, needed that victory at Rolling Wheels in Elbridge, N.Y., to keep his hopes alive for the Extreme Tough Challenge crown. Meyers, the current World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship leader, used his third-place finish that night to tie Kinser in the LaCrosse points and put himself into contention for the Extreme Tough Challenge title.

There have been seven Extreme Tough Challenge events for both the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, with 20 different drivers earning Extreme Tough Challenge points. The Extreme Tough Challenge features 16 overall events - eight per series - where drivers who are competing full-time in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series or the World of Outlaws Late Model Series earn points toward the championship. The top five finishers no matter the series will share a $15,000 point fund, and the winning driver will receive the Extreme Tough Challenge champion trophy.

Also, at each Extreme Tough Challenge event, LaCrosse will distribute keepsake posters as well as provide hat and t-shirt giveaways. Fans can get involved at every race through a unique Extreme Tough competition with the chance to win a pair of LaCrosse boots.
