A Look at the Final 2010 World of Outlaws Championship Standings

Concord, NC-November 7, 2010- Jason Meyers used two wins during the Fourth Annual Lowes Foods World of Outlaws World Finals Presented By Bimbo Bakeries and Tom's Snacks to wrap up the 2010 championship to become just the eighth driver ever to win a title in the series 30-plus year history and the first from the state of California.

Meyers won a career high 12 A-Feature this season at 11 different tracks in 10 different states and one Canadian Province. The native of Clovis, California led the series in bonus points earned in time trials, which are awarded to the Top-Five in qualifying each night. He also was tied for the series lead in fast time honors with 10. The veteran racked up 56 Top-10 finishes with 36 Top-Five performances en route to his first championship after finishing second three times in his career including in each of the last two years.

Donny Schatz, who set fast time for the finale of the World Finals to earn five bonus points, finished fourth in the opener on Saturday and was seventh in the finale to wrap the season up second in points. The four-time series champion has now finished among the Top-Five nine times in his career including in each of the last eight years. The North Dakota native won five times in 2010 and was second in Top-Five finishes with 37 and ended up with 54 Top-10 runs.

Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion, came home seventh in the opener of the World Finals and was 13th in the finale on his way to finishing third in points in his first season driving for Tony Stewart Racing as a teammate to Schatz, which marked the 27th time in his amazing career that he has finished among the Top-Three in the final rundown. He led the series with 57 Top-10 finishes and 38 Top-Fives, winning nine times along the way to bring his career total to a staggering 561 A-Feature triumphs.

Joey Saldana, who led the World of Outlaws with 13 A-Feature wins this season, ran second in the opener of the World Finals and was ninth in the nightcap to finish fourth in points, just four markers behind Kinser. Saldana and his Kasey Kahne Racing team ended up second in owner points, after Brad Sweet filled in for Saldana at Lernerville in late September when the veteran was forced to miss the Commonwealth Clash with a concussion. The second generation driver led the series in laps led and was tied for the most Top-Five finishes with 38. He racked up 50 Top-10 finishes.

Jason Sides finished ninth in the opener of the World Finals and backed that up with a fourth-place performance to lock down the fifth spot in points for the second consecutive year, setting career highs in Top-10 finishes with 53 and Top-Fives with 26, while also winning a career-best four times to double his career total. The veteran won at four different tracks in three states and one Canadian Province.

Paul McMahan finished sixth in the opener of the World Finals and was eighth in the finale on his way to finishing a career-best sixth in points on the strength of 51 Top-10 finishes with 30 Top-Five performances, as he filled in for the injured Cody Darrah this season. He won once in 2010, with that coming at the famed Eldora Speedway back in May. His Kasey Kahne Racing team ended up fifth in the owner standings as Brad Sweet opened the year in the car at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida, before McMahan joined the team at Las Vegas.

Craig Dollansky ended up seventh in points in his first season driving for owner Tod Quiring and the Big Game Motorsports Team. The former Gumout Series Champion won four times at four different tracks this season. He set fast time in the opener of the World Finals, which marked the second straight race he topped qualifying. Dollansky ended the year with 34 Top-10 finishes with 18 of those being Top-Fives.

Lucas Wolfe came home eighth in the opener of the World Finals and was 11th in the nightcap on his way to a career-best eighth-place showing in points. The second generation driver set a career high in Top-10 finishes with 28 and a career high in Top-Fives with 14. He came close to scoring his first career World of Outlaws win a couple of times this season.

Danny Lasoski, the 2001 World of Outlaws champion, ended up ninth in points. He won at Cottage Grove Speedway in Oregon during the Gold Rush Tour to snap a 77-race winless streak. He wrapped up the campaign with 34 Top-10 finishes with eight Top-Fives. He has finished among the Top-10 in points, 12 times in his career.

Kraig Kinser came home 10th and 11th in the World Finals to secure the 10th spot in points in his first season back aboard his father's No. 11K. The third generation driver racked up 30 Top-10 finishes with eight Top-Fives and has now finished in the Top-10 in points four times.

Sam Hafertepe Jr. led the first seven laps of the opener of the World Finals before finishing 18th. He was 10th in the nightcap to score his 20th Top-10 finish of the season en route to matching a career-best 11th-place showing in points.

Jac Haudenschild won five times this season on his way to a 12th-place finish in points, with his Carnahan Motorsports Team finishing eighth in owner points, after Doug Esh filled in for Haudenschild in a handful of races in the summer when the latter was out with a broken hand. Haudenschild picked up 32 Top-10 finishes this season with 13 Top-Fives.

Chad Kemenah, the 2006 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, ended up 13th in points on the strength of 12 Top-10 finishes with a couple of Top-Fives.

Ben Gregg finished 14th in points to wrap up the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award to add his name to an illustrious list of former winners of the prestigious award.

Toni Lutar ended up second in the battle for the rookie title and was 15th overall in points in his first full year on the road with the World of Outlaws.

The 2011 World of Outlaws season kicks off in February at Volusia Speedway Park with the 40th Annual Florida DIRTcar Nationals.
