Meyers Extends Lead in World of Outlaws Championship Standings

Concord, NC-- May 25, 2008--After scoring his series leading fifth A-Feature win of the season on Saturday night at Virginia Motor Speedway, Jason Meyers extended his lead in the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship standings to 25 markers. The native of Clovis, California has 10 Top-10 finishes in 11 starts, with nine of those being in the Top-Five.

Donny Schatz, the two-time defending Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion used his 11th Top-10 finish of the season on Saturday night to move into the second spot in points. He is the only driver that has finished in the Top-10 in each and every event this season.

Craig Dollansky picked up his 10th Top-10 finish of the season in the series inaugural visit to Virginia Motor Speedway, and is just six points behind Schatz heading into action on Monday, May 26 at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in New York.

Joey Saldana remains fourth in points driving for Kasey Kahne Racing, while 20-time series champion Steve Kinser is fifth.

Jac Haudenschild used his second consecutive fourth-place finish on Saturday night to move to within 11 points of the Top-Five in the standings, with reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Kerry Madsen just behind him in seventh.

The remainder of the Top-10 in points is Chad Kemenah in eighth, Terry McCarl in ninth and Daryn Pittman in 10th.

Sam Hafertepe Jr. moved up a couple of spots in points after a career-best third-place finish on Saturday night. The sophomore drive is now 13th in the standings.

Lucas Wolfe, a contender for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award, moved up to 14th in points after earning his third Top-10 finish of the season at Virginia Motor Speedway.

The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to action on Monday, May 26 at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in New York.
