Battle at Top of the World of Outlaws Championship Standings Remains Tight After the Magic City Showdown

Concord, NC-August 22, 2010- The battle at the top of the World of Outlaws championship standings remains tight after this past weekend's Magic City Showdown at Nodak Speedway in Minot, North Dakota. Joey Saldana continues to lead and gained 12 points on Steve Kinser, with the pair now separated by 25 markers with 19 point paying events remaining in 2010

Saldana edged Kinser by a mere 0.018 seconds which was a few inches on the track on Friday night in the opener at Nodak Speedway in the closest finish of the season and then ran fourth in the finale, along with turning the fourth-fastest lap in time trials on Saturday night to earn two bonus points in the standings. Saldana leads the series with 11 wins on the season and has 40 Top-10 finishes and 31 Top-Fives, which is second only to Kinser.

Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion, finished second in the opener of the Magic City Showdown and then rebounded from a flat tire while running third with just three laps remaining in the finale to finish ninth to score his series leading 46th Top-10 finish of the season as he chases his record 21st title. He also leads the series with 32 Top-Five finishes.

Jason Meyers finished seventh and 11th at Nodak Speedway to remain third in points. He set fast time in the opener to pick up five bonus points and is currently 71 markers out of the top spot as he chases his first title. The California native has won eight times this season and has racked up 39 Top-10 finishes with 25 of those being Top-Fives.

Donny Schatz, the four-time and defending World of Outlaws champion, finished third in the finale of the Magic City Showdown after a seventh-place showing in the opener to remain fourth in points on the strength of 39 Top-10 finishes with 25 of those being Top-Five runs.

Jason Sides finished second and fourth at Nodak Speedway and remains fifth in points on the strength of 39 Top-10 and 25 Top-Five finishes along with four wins.

Paul McMahan picked up his 35th Top-10 finish of the season on Friday night at Nodak Speedway and remains sixth in points.

Lucas Wolfe finished 12th on both nights of the Magic City Showdown and remains seventh in points on the strength of 25 Top-10 finishes and 14 Top-Fives.

Craig Dollansky used his third win of the season on Saturday night to move to within just five points of Lucas Wolfe who is seventh in the standings. Dollansky finished sixth on Friday night at Nodak Speedway and has picked up 28 Top-10 finishes on the season with 16 of those being Top-Five performances.

Kraig Kinser rebounded from a flat tire while running second on Saturday night with three laps remaining to finish 10th to earn his 25 th Top-10 of the season. The third generation driver remains ninth in points.

Danny Lasoski was eighth on Friday night at Nodak Speedway to pick up his 24th Top-10 finish of the season. The 2001 series champion remains 10th in points and is 17 points behind Kraig Kinser as the pair battles for the ninth spot.

The World of Outlaws return to action on Friday, August 27 and Saturday, August 28 at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada for the Fourth Annual Oil City Cup.
