DIRT MotorSports Assembles Taskforce to Explore Self-Starting Sprint Cars

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (Nov. 11, 2004) --- DIRT MotorSports officials announced today that it will explore the feasibility of making Sprint cars self-starting for the 2006 season.

This note was posted in the 2005 Rules:

NOTE: It is the intention of WoO for 2006 that all cars shall be self-starting. This will entail the fitment of a battery, starter motor and a multi-plate disc clutch. An appropriate weight adjustment to the minimum weight limit will be made at such time.

DIRT MotorSports will establish a taskforce including team owners, teams, tracks, drivers and manufacturers.

"In keeping with the modus operandi," stated Bobby Hartslief, Chief Operations Officer of DIRT MotorSports, "All decisions affecting the members of the WoO National Tour are thoroughly discussed an evaluated prior to being instituted."

The mandate of the task team will be to investigate the feasibility of attaching starters to the 810 horse power methanol driven Sprint cars. All aspects of this proposal will be considered including safety and cost factors.

The task team will report their findings to DIRT MotorSports who will use these findings to render a final decision.
