Solberg - the only drivers' champion in the series' two-year history thus far - won both of his titles with a privately-entered Citroen DS3, but will be aiming to get manufacturer support for the subsequent campaigns.

"I'm working on few different [manufacturers] now," Solberg told Motorsport.com during the Autosport International Show.

"I hope I can have it ready in three months time, so that we can have a proper plan for the future. We managed to build the fastest car, so we should have the possibility."

Solberg had joined forces with Liam Doran for the 2015 season under the SDRX banner in order to have a better chance of fighting for the team's championship - but future collaboration between the two appears to be in doubt.

"We're two separate teams basically, fighting for the championship together, but I don't know his plans yet. My plan is ready."

Pikes Peak plan

Solberg, who turned down an offer to take part in this year's Dakar Rally, is still open to taking part in the desert marathon in 2017.

He also admitted that Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is on his to-do list.

"I'm still working on the [Pikes Peak] car. The thing is that they've changed the track surface to tarmac only and that changed my plan.

"We need to change the strategy. Now electric cars are more and more present there, so maybe that's they way to go for us."
