TROIS-RIVIÈRES | Tuesday April 22nd 2014 – After finding a live event to call home in Canada with Le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières (GP3R), the new-for-2014 FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy (World RX) has found a spot in the French-language television packages of Canada with an agreement to have all 12 rounds of the championship season broadcast on the Réseau des sports (RDS) networks.

The 12 rounds of the championship will be broadcast on RDS and RDS2 with a mix of live and tape-delay airings starting with the Portugal RX event to be aired on a same-day delay basis on April 4th at 1PM EST.

“We are very happy to be adding the 12 rounds of the FIA World Rallycross Championship to our broadcast grid, which is already one of the greatest in the world when it comes to motorsports” has declared Robert Turcotte, vice-president of programming and business development at RDS. “This exciting series, in which the former F1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve competes, will undoubtedly find its public on RDS.”

With this agreement, World RX will now be available to more than 550 million households through its broadcast partners such as Eurosport (UK), Viasat (various Scandinavian countries), Nelonen Pro TV (Finland), Fox Deportes (Latin America) and beIN Sport (USA).

“"It is fantastic news that the FIA World Rallycross Championship will be broadcast on RDS, which is the dominant sports network for French Canadian speakers. Ever since it was announced that we would be visiting Canada during our inaugural season as an FIA World Championship, we've been overwhelmed by the amount of interest from the Canadian people. World RX is a fantastic spectator sport and its short, sharp races also means it is perfectly suited to TV – we're very much looking forward to showcasing our sport on RDS." ”

The colour commentary for 10 of the 12 broadcasts will be provided by former CART, IndyCar and NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Patrick Carpentier who has also announced today that he would participate in the Canadian round of World RX aboard a Marklund Motorsport VW Polo Supercar. Carpentier is already an RDS analyst for its NASCAR broadcast package.

“I am very happy to add another show as an analyst for RDS and looking forward to comment on Jacque Villeneuve's performances ! As I'm sure he will also have some fun driving this type of car. This is very exciting for me”, commented Carpentier who will have a chance to race against Villeneuve at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières which will be hosting the RX Canada on August 7th and 8th. GP3R General Manager and RDS veteran broadcaster Dominic Fugère will join Carpentier in the booth as lap-by-lap commentator.
