Australia’s Chris Atkinson has launch his colourful new livery today alongside YouTube sensation and Rally Mexico teammate Ken Block and the Monster World Rally Team.

The livery is a Block design and in 24 hours time will be blasting around streets of the majestic Guanajuato, a UNESCO World Heritage listed city where over 50,000 spectators are expected for the event’s ceremonial start and opening special stage.

“This is by far the coolest looking car I’ve ever driven,” commented an excited Atkinson.

“When it comes to making things look the business Ken is the guy that gets in done and both cars will be turning plenty of heads at the DC Shoes Guanajuato Street Stage tomorrow tonight.”

Block and the Monster World Rally Team are the talk of the town in Mexico with Monster WRT gear spotted all over the cities of Leon and Guanajuato.

“I’m really excited about the fact that we were able bring ATKO on for Mexico,” said Block.

“We’ve been friends for a few years, and he’s an amazingly talented driver, so we’re stoked to be able to have him join on as part of the team for this race. He brings a lot of experience to the table, being a former factory driver for Subaru, as well as having taken two 2nd place WRC podiums in 2008 and a handful of other podiums as well.

"Obviously, when Subaru stopped racing in the WRC, Chris was left without a ride, so it’s nice to see him getting back to the level where he belongs. He’s taken 2nd overall here in Mexico before, so it should be an exciting race for us as a team.”

After two long but exciting days of reconnaissance Atkinson is rearing to get things underway and do what he does best against the world’s rallying elite.

“It’s been a while since I’ve competed in a WRC event [Rally Ireland, 2009] and I’m pumped to jump behind the wheel and show these boys we’ve still got it,” added Atkinson.

“I’ve finished second here before [2008] and I’ve laid down some miles in the car testing in the UK a few weeks back so for me I’m really excited to rally back in the most competitive environment.

“It’s a big event and a long way from my home on the Gold Coast so I’ll be doing everything in my power to give everyone at home something to cheer about!”

Atkinson’s car will feature support and branding from two Australian backers in Twin Village Shopping and Australia’s leading motorsport website SpeedCafe.com.

Rally Mexico, round 3 of the FIA World Rally Championship, kick starts at 20.09 in Mexico when crews tackle the short but technical 1.05km DC Shoes Guanajuato Street Stage before the event starts proper on Friday morning with the opening 22.12km El Cubilete 1 gravel stage.
