All the competition is fought out over the twisty narrow roads high in the mountains of the southern Alps above Sanremo itself. Organisers have developed a compact route which contains just seven stages, each run twice, and several sections of road will be used in both directions. After a ceremonial start in Sanremo on Thursday evening, the rally base moves east to Imperia, the location for the single service park. The longest day is Saturday with 149.10km of competition and more than 12 hours behind the wheel. It includes two runs over the massive 52.30km Teglia stage, rediscovering Rallyes Sanremo of almost 30 years ago. It runs west to east, across the backbone of the mountains from Baiardo to Rezzo, encompassing the classic climbs of Monte Ceppo and the Passo Teglia itself. The event includes 387.36km of competition in a total route of 1375.86km.
