RK M-Sport World Rally Team’s Robert delivered a flawless performance on the sealed-surface roads of Rallye Deutschland today. Setting two fastest stage times, the Pole climbed the leader board and is now in a points-paying 10th place.

Taking advantage of the cleaner conditions as one of the first cars on the road, Robert stormed to an impressive stage win on the morning’s opening speed test (SS7). Having opted for Michelin’s soft compound tyre for the Panzerplatte stages, the Pole combined his speed with compromise – protecting his softer tyres through the drying stage.

As the crews embarked on the afternoon loop, the Formula One race winner did it again. Taking every advantage on a rain-soaked SS12, Robert piloted his Ford Fiesta RS WRC to another fastest time – some 7.2 seconds quicker than his nearest rival.

Driving well, Robert is continuing to gain the knowledge that will see him develop at this level. With an ever-increasing understanding of his top-specification Fiesta, the popular RK M-Sport driver is building the momentum that will see him progress further.

Robert Kubica (10th) said:  “There have been a lot of different conditions to contend with today and I think that we can be happy with the job we have done. We played it safe on the tyre choices as it was important to make it through with no mistakes, and I think the driving has been good. OK, the rain may have helped us with the stage wins, but I’m really pleased with the job we have done.

“The most important thing is that we are learning all the time. We understand why we were making a few mistakes yesterday – it was nothing to do with the driving itself but rather something to do with what I was doing inside the car, so that is good and I’m pleased with how today has gone.”

Team Principal, Malcolm Wilson OBE, said: “Robert [Kubica] has had a very good day and has been driving well. To come back from yesterday’s disappointment and set fastest times is a big boost for him. Of course we’ve had a favourable road position, but to do what he did in such difficult conditions – all credit to him. We’re the only manufacturer other than VW to have secured a stage win, and that is a big positive for the team.”
