After a difficult second leg Dani Sordo and Marc Marti made up two positions today and finished second of the 'Junior' classification on the French round in Corsica.

The young 'Cantabria' driver, who was recently crowned Spanish Rally Champion, scored eight valuable points for the Championship. He still leads the youngsters' competition ahead of the final round on home ground next week in Catalunya, where the title will be fought over.

"Ok, we had a problem, explained Dani at the finish. It rarely happened this year. After dropping around six minutes, the only reasonable target was to tempt coming back in second position. We did it. We're lacking two points, the equivalent of a seventh place to be sure to obtain the title whatever Guy Wilks' result will be in Spain. I will do my best to drive peacefully and calmly there."

Marc Marti, who has previously sat alongside drivers such Jesus Puras and Carlos Sainz in the Xsara, underlined Dani's performance : "Dani is very fast and doesn't make mistakes. . Just like Carlos was able to choose the right pace at the right moment, Dani knows instinctively the rhythm he should adopt."

If the Spaniards were in a joking mood, it was harder for their British team-mates :"Learning, learning and learning, repeated Kris Meeke. On tarmac, I feel good in the fast sections, but I can't get my driving style right in the narrow and windy parts. I'm happy about this last day, but my mistake from yesterday destroyed my weekend."

Conrad Rautenbach has shown a great consistency on the event. The young Zimbabwe driver brought his PH Sport C2 S1600 home in fifth position. This morning I couldn't avoid a big spin which cost me around twenty seconds. I didn't tempt the devil to resist the attack of Urmo Aava at the end of the leg. This fifth place is my best result so far in the Junior Championship."

"The C2 Super 1600 has won eleven out of the twelve possible stages in Corsica. Dani and Kris set eight one-two positions, said Yves Matton, the Customer programme manager. After Germany, we confirmed here the car's performance level on tarmac. We will try to demonstrate it once again in Catalunya with all our rivals taking part in the finale."
