Daniel Oliveira bounced back to complete Rally Finland

The BWRT got through the last day of the Nordic round without difficulties.

After yesterday’s incident, Daniel Oliveira and Carlos Magalhaes enjoyed a trouble-free run during the last day of action to finally complete Rally Finland, eighth round of the FIA World Rally Championship.

It was the first time for the BWRT crew members competing in the most famous event within the WRC calendar, the “Cathedral” all of rallies as it is known and one of the most difficult showdowns for what it demands from the drivers.

Daniel gave the most of himself to challenge the high-speed roads of Finland, with countless blind crests and a scary endless tree-lined on both sides which forced the drivers to be extremely focused to keep the car on the road.

Once again the young Brazilian representative came up with a cautious approach to start the last day of action and tried to find a neat pace during the first loop. For the second run through the same stages of the morning Daniel could take much out of his MINI John Cooper Works WRC to fulfil his aim of completing this demanding rally for the first time.

Daniel’s words.

“We are really happy and we finished with a great feeling for being able to complete one of the most difficult and technical rallies. This last day was really positive for us. There was only a minor technical issue on SS18 that delayed us a bit, but we haven’t made any mistake and we were able to improve our times throughout the day. We are leaving Finland with a very positive result and we learnt a lot that will be useful in the rounds to come. I must congratulate all the team members for the job they did from the test ahead of this rally and during the weekend. Now it’s time to think about tackling my first WRC’s challenge on asphalt in Germany”.

Loeb did it again.

Sebastien Loeb (Citroen) repeated the heroic deed he had already claimed in 2008, when he was crowned as the first non-Nordic driver in more than ten years to clinch the overall victory in Rally Finland. This time the Frenchman defeated Jari-Matti Latvala (Ford), one of the local’s promises who came 8.1s adrift. Sebastien Ogier (Citroen) completed the podium. In the standings, Loeb has opened the gap with a 27-point difference over Hirvonen.

On Tarmac.

Daniel and the BWRT next challenge will be the ADAC Rallye Deutschland, the first event of the year to take place entirely on asphalt. The rally will be held from 18th to 21th August.
