Jerez WSBK: Davies doubles up again with crushing win
Ducati rider Chaz Davies remained unbeaten for the fourth straight World Superbike race after taking a dominant victory in Race 2 at Jerez, as Jonathan Rea edged closer towards the title by beating Tom Sykes.
Welshman Davies had a storming start to the race as he took the lead in half a lap from sixth on the grid.
The Kawasaki duo of Sykes and Rea slotted in behind him but they could not keep up with Davies.
Rea kept closely following Sykes but waited to make his move until Lap 10, when the latter ran slightly wide.
Despite pulling off the overtake on Sykes, Rea couldn't pull away from Sykes and the duo was soon caught up with by Nicky Hayden.
At the front, Davies had superior pace throughout the entire race and won by over seven seconds.
Although Hayden passing Sykes would have resulted in Rea clincing the title, there was no overtaking attempt from the American and the trio completed the race in an unchanged order.
Yamaha's Alex Lowes was passed by teammate Sylvain Guintoli and Michael van der Mark for fifth and sixth respectively.
Jordi Torres was eighth, followed by Anthony West and Lorenzo Savadori.
Rea's championship lead over Sykes is 48 points with 50 up for grabs in the final round.
