Phillip Island: Motorcycling Australia Saturday report

Saturday is known as moving day and that was the case for the Aussie contingent at Phillip Island for the World Superbike Championship, with two-time World Champion Troy Corser leading the charge.

After a disastrous first session on Friday, Corser turned around his fortunes in emphatic style with a brilliant performance in the WSBK Superpole.

Known as 'Mr Superpole', a clinical Corser made the cut in each of the first two Superpole races before claiming seventh position on the starting grid for tomorrow's main event.

Joining Corser inside the first three rows of the grid will be wildcard sensation Josh Waters, who continues his fairytale WSBK debut.

Riding for the Yoshimura Suzuki team, Waters never looked out of his depth as he, not only qualified for the Superpole, but made it through to the final 12 to start from 11th on the grid.

While Corser and Waters appear to be our best chances in the WSBK class, Broc Parkes looks odds-on to be on the podium for the WSBK Supersport main event after another strong performance in qualifying.

The Kawasaki Motocard.com rider was the fastest man through the morning practice and will be eager to get a fast start from the front row to establish an early lead.

Despite not earning the plaudits of the before-mentioned trio, the likes of Mitchell Pirotta, Bryan Staring and Mark Aitchison eager to make their mark on the big stage.

For WSBK wildcard Staring the improvement was evident in the morning's qualifying session, with the 2010 ASBK Champion marginally missing out on a berth in the Superpole session.
